A pure Statuary 18th Century French Chimneypiece. The Frieze consisting of a dramatic carved shell cartouche with bold acanthus foliage sweeping to either side with floral enrichment. The Jambs have elongated decorated consoles with an acanthus scroll below and richly ornamented brackets above, the whole surmounted by a deeply moulded serpentine shelf.
